Curious about Ireland’s ancient secrets?
Hill of Tara
This was the seat of Ireland's Ancient High Kings, and they have left behind historic monuments that each tell a story of their own. The lush, green surroundings are just as charming today as they would have been in the days of the Ard Rí kings.
Trim Castle
Of all Ireland's many castles, this is among the largest and best preserved. The medieval walls of the castle sit alongside charming and well maintained gardens. At 11:50 AM, we're turning back the clock even further with a visit to Loughcrew Tombs, where megalithic cairns have stood for 5,000 years.
Fore Distillery-Fore Abbey
Fore Distillery is delighted to invite visitors behind the scenes for an exclusive look at the craftsmanship behind Fore Valley spirits. Guests will experience the art of distillation, enjoy a guided tasting, and immerse themselves in the rich history of this remarkable location. Although the original seventh-century monastery founded by St. Fechin is no longer standing, the remaining church ruins date back to as early as 900 AD.
Itinerary
We depart at 8:00 AM from the Molly Malone statue on Suffolk Street. Climb aboard the coach to a warm welcome from your Irish Day Tours guide. Then greet your fellow explorers of Ireland's ancient east.
We arrived at the Hill of Tara at 8:30 AM. You'll get the chance to look out over the new morning landscape from this ancient vantage point.
After a gentle drive through the countryside, our arrival at Trim Castle is scheduled for 10:00 AM. This leaves plenty of time for getting to know this remarkably well-preserved Anglo-Norman stronghold.
Passage tombs dating back as far as 3000 BC await for you to discover.
The place is perfect to get some food in their restaurant, followed by a tour through their distillery that will finish in a fantastic tasting.
Delight yourself with a seventh-century monastery with early medieval ruins.
