The next stop is Trim Castle, and we arrive here at 10:00 AM. Of all Ireland's many castles, this is among the largest and best preserved. The medieval walls of the castle sit alongside charming and wellmaintained gardens. At 11:50 AM, we're turning back the clock even further with a visit to Loughcrew Tombs, where megalithic cairns have stood for 5,000 years.
In the afternoon, we'll be journeying over to Fore Abbey, arriving at 3:00 PM. While St. Fechin's original seventh-century monastery is now unfortunately gone, the ruins of the church date back as far as 900 AD.
