Adare, County Limerick

Known as one of Ireland’s prettiest villages, Adare becomes even more enchanting during the festive season. The thatched cottages lining the streets look straight out of a Christmas card, and the village's twinkling lights add a magical glow. Visit the Adare Heritage Centre for local crafts and gifts, or take a stroll along the peaceful River Maigue. Carlingford, County Louth

Nestled between the Cooley Mountains and Carlingford Lough, this medieval village is absolutely charming. In the weeks before Christmas, Carlingford hosts a festive market where you can pick up handmade crafts and sample local treats. Wander through cobblestone streets, visit King John’s Castle, and warm up by the fire at one of the village's traditional – and festively decorated – pubs. The scenic surroundings make it perfect for a holiday escape.

 

Avondale, County Wicklow

More an experience than a village, Avondale house awaits you in the nature of County Wicklow. The estate currently hosts the „Winter Woodland“ with a beautifully decorated Avondale house, a Christmas craft market, an ice rink and its treetop walk, available to visit through the whole year, is currently decorated with fairy lights and Christmas trees. While Kilkenny city is a Christmas hotspot, the surrounding villages like Inistioge and Graiguenamanagh are perfect for a quieter festive experience. And just a few stops further, there’s Bray, hosting a farm Christmas market at the Killruddery estate on all December weekends.
